Changes from v1.0 to v1.1.1

Enhancements:

• If there are unsaved changes, prompt user to save when she goes to another page
• Skip “Open” child elements with “Completed” parents when “Show Completed Items” is unchecked.
• Item positions are managed within items and not at project level

Bug Fixes:

• Tickets are always created with Private visibility
• Ticket not saving when navigating by clicking on another item in list
• Duplicate Ticket IDs created when switching type from Ticket to Page and back
• Crash if Pages or Checklists module was not active
• Show Completed option does not save state
• Focus lost after clicking on Type drop down in Outline view

Planning module is an activeCollab extension. It requires activeCollab version 2.1 or higher.

You can reap the fruits of our hard work

There have been a number of enhancements from the beta release. It took us much much longer than we anticipated to develop this product. We have spent days brainstorming and debating – to get a feature right. We spent equal time on fine tuning and giving finishing touches. This has been real hard work!

But you can reap the fruits of it. And that’s why we made this product in the first place. You can use Planning module to plan, review and revise your projects much faster. Our tests have shown 5X speed and productivity increase. That’s real breakthrough results.

Deep sense of satisfaction

We built this module to scratch our own itch. We had dozens of projects running on activeCollab. And a number of people using it. People with different skills and motivation levels. It was hard for us to get everyone follow a structure for planning their projects. Hence harder for me to review their plans. It would take me a lot of convincing to revise a plan once made. My team felt it takes them too much time to go through all the activeCollab screens and create / update milestones, tickets and tasks.

We started building Planning module with these aims:

• Make it simple to create project plans
• Reduce the number of clicks and page flips required to review / manage a plan
• Make it easier to update project plans (our plans needed revisions almost every week!)

Today, I am deeply satisfied to see Planning Module deliver on these aims.

• Creating or editing project plans is as easy as typing in a text document
• I can review the entire project plan from a single page, without many clicks
• Batch update give me flexibility to update multiple items at once – including things like “Push all these items 4 days ahead”

Aimed for the moon, but reached on mars! This is what happened to us. We applied for an iPhone developers account at start of December. It’s been about 3 months now, and we have not got the Developers Account despite sending all documents and repeated followups.

We have 4 iPhone products ready to deploy, but our hands are tied because we don’t yet have a developer’s account. The frustration levels went so high, we decided to just drop the plans to release these products.
